Marital Status Certificate Apostille

Kazakh single-status certificates apostilled and attested for marriage registration in the UAE.

Marital status certificates prove that the holder is not currently married, and they surface in UAE marriage registration files. They are issued by the civil registry and are short-lived documents — most receiving bodies want one issued within the last three months, so they belong late in the assembly of a file rather than first. Once the apostilled document reaches us, the UAE side — attestation, any required translation and delivery — is handled end to end.

Important Notes

Special requirements

Please note
  • § Kazakhstan has no single apostille office. Civil registry records and notarial instruments are apostilled by the Ministry of Justice, academic documents by the ministry responsible for higher education, and criminal record certificates through the Prosecutor General's Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records. A document submitted to the wrong authority is returned unprocessed.
  • § Certificates issued before 1991 were issued by Kazakh SSR authorities. They remain valid, but the issuing office no longer exists in the same form and the apostille route commonly runs through the state archives for confirmation first.
  • § Kazakh documents are issued in Kazakh, Russian or both, and the Kazakh language is moving from Cyrillic to Latin script in phases. Documents issued years apart can spell the same name differently. UAE authorities match against the passport, so the passport spelling governs every translation in the file.

Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

No. The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so it is not bound to accept an apostille by itself. A Kazakh document is apostilled at home and then legalised for the UAE, in that order. This is the most common misunderstanding we correct on Kazakh files.

Most often marriage registration, where the receiving authority needs proof that neither party is already married.

Most UAE receiving bodies want one issued within the last three months, so it should be ordered late in the assembly of a file rather than first.

Usually yes, by a UAE-licensed legal translator, and after the apostille rather than before. A translation produced beforehand will not carry the apostille stamp and has to be redone at full cost.
