Special requirements
- § Kazakhstan has no single apostille office. Civil registry records and notarial instruments are apostilled by the Ministry of Justice, academic documents by the ministry responsible for higher education, and criminal record certificates through the Prosecutor General's Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records. A document submitted to the wrong authority is returned unprocessed.

- § Kazakh documents are issued in Kazakh, Russian or both, and the Kazakh language is moving from Cyrillic to Latin script in phases.
